The National Working Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly disowned Mr. John Paul Anih, declaring that he does not represent the party in any capacity, particularly as the Enugu State Chairman.
In a statement issued by the party, the NDC clarified that the authentic and legally recognized Enugu State Chairman is Engr. Ibuchukwu Obeta. The party accused Anih of impersonating Obeta and engaging in activities aimed at misleading the public and party members.
According to the NDC, Anih allegedly conducted a controversial “kangaroo” state congress where he installed himself as chairman. The party revealed that Anih has also approached a court in Enugu, seeking judicial recognition as the state chairman, even as his case remains pending.
The statement further alleged that while awaiting court proceedings, Anih forged and reproduced copies of the NDC Expression of Interest Forms, which he sold to unsuspecting aspirants. The party warned that any transactions conducted with him on behalf of the NDC are at the individuals’ own risk.
In addition, Anih is said to have exploited the ongoing screening of aspirants by establishing a fake Enugu State aspirants screening committee to extort money from gullible politicians. The NDC emphasized that the genuine screening committee for Enugu State House of Assembly aspirants, set up by the national leadership, consists of Hon. Sylvester O. Nwankwo as Chairman, Barr. Ifeanyi Emmanuel Agbom as Secretary, and Ngene Helen Funmilola as Member.
The NDC reiterated that John Paul Anih is a fraud who holds no position in the party. The statement was signed by Osa Director Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
